NEW ONLINE RE-CERTIFICATION CLASSES

NEW ONLINE RE-CERTIFICATION CLASSES

The Riverside-San Bernardino Joint Apprenticeship & Journeyman Training Center (JATC) has recently added online courses to its extensive list of journeyman classes. These courses enable students to receive California re-certification hours at home or in the computer lab at the training center. In addition, students have the opportunity to learn cutting-edge lighting and lighting-control technologies.

Here’s how it works. Open a web browser such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, Netscape, Google Chrome or Safari, etc. Visit the Inland Empire JATC homepage at http://inlandempirejatc.org/ and click on the "Online Courses-Lighting Controls" link, or type http://www.aboutlightingcontrols.org in the address window and click on Education Express. After the new window opens, select click here to register. Enter a username and a password. After you are registered, log in and click on Courses located near the top of the window. When the Courses page opens, you will see a list of classes. To the right of each class, there is a CEU (Continuing Education Unit) column. Some classes are prerequisites and have no assigned values. These prerequisites must be taken to prepare you for the credit courses. The other classes have a CEU value listed. For each CEU completed, the San Bernardino-Riverside JATC will credit the student with (10) hours of class time. For example, The Dimmable Ballast class is listed as providing .20 CEU credits. Successful completion of that section would entitle the student to (2.0) hours credit toward re-certification. If all classes are taken, a total of (58.5) hours may be accrued. Upon completion of each section, the student will receive a completion certificate. Copies of these certificates must be turned into the Riverside-San Bernardino JATC in order to receive credit.

The Riverside-San Bernardino JATC assigns credit for these courses based on the date that they are turned into our office. If you turn in your completion certificate after your scheduled re-certification date, the hours will NOT be recorded as having been completed within the required period. If you have already been re-certified, the hours will apply toward your next re-certification.

More online classes will be available in the coming year.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the JATC @: (909) 890-1703.

Thank you!

ADVANCED LIGHTING CONTROLS CLASS

ADVANCED LIGHTING CONTROLS CLASS

Date(s): April 2010 - TBD
Time(s): Weekdays, Monday/Wednesday Evenings & Saturdays - TBD
Instructor: Ron Johnston
Location: JATC
Fee: TBD

In California, 60% of the power consumed is from lighting. There is 32 billion dollars worth of lighting retrofit work to be completed in the state in the form of utility incentives.

Our contractors will be bidding this work; however they will need to have “trained” manpower in order to work on these jobs.

Advanced Lighting Controls Training will begin April 2010; the exact dates have not been confirmed. The class will consist of 50 hours of instruction and will also require 6 hours of online prerequisites.

Classes will be offered on: Weekdays, Monday/Wednesday Evenings and Saturdays.

Contact the JATC to register as soon as possible and provide your 1st and 2nd time preference. Once the schedule has been established the JATC will notify you of your class schedule.

It is important that we have a list of potential students for this training to show good faith to the utilities, so they will proceed with the incentives.

Please do not delay. Contact the JATC @: (909) 890-1703 to register.
